EduAction has developed a series of Schools Field Guides for a number of South African provinces. These field guides are the essential guide to the geography of education in provinces in South Africa, containing detailed maps showing schools in relation to health facilities, roads, urban areas, towns, rivers, railways, police stations, circuits, district and region boundaries. Field guides are available for the following provinces:
- KwaZulu-Natal - Version 5 (August 2010), 142 map pages, 6483 schools
- Eastern Cape - Version 2 (March 2005), 104 map pages, 6326 schools
- Limpopo - Version 3 (June 2002), 68 map pages, 4303 schools
- Free State - Version 1 (July 2002), 78 map pages, 2373 schools
- North West - Version 1 (February 2003), 65 map pages, 2423 schools
Each field guide contains a separate introductory report, providing contextual information such as Key to Map Pages, summary education statistics, socio-economic data and, where possible, region/district contact details. A complete index of schools is also included at the back of each guide allowing schools to be easily located.
The KwaZulu-Natal Schools Field Guide is available online for free download at schoolmaps.co.za. The Eastern Cape, Limpopo, Free State and North West field guides are available in a handy A3 book format at a cost of R456.00 each (incl VAT). To order field guides please complete our order form.
Schools Field Guide CDs
Our popular Schools Field Guides are also available on CD in electronic format. Digital versions of the field guides are included in colour, with an index to schools providing address and contact details, as well as learner and educator numbers. Each school can be located via a grid reference, which is listed for all schools in a separate Excel spreadsheet, and which can be sorted by Region, District, School type, etc. The digital maps are provided as A3 full colour Word documents.
